Philippians 2:6-11
Palm Sunday is the beginning of Holy Week in the Church: a time of particular prayer and preparation.
This Sunday’s 2nd Reading provides a wonderful method of preparation for that – the Story of Christ in the Gospel.

Philippians 3:8-14
For the Jews of the 1st Century, the Law of Moses was the closest God could be, and following the Law was what set the Jewish peopel apart. In this Sunday’s 2nd Reading, St. Paul tells us that the Law is not enough when Christ – God himself – has sought us out to enter into a relationship with us. Today – that means building our faith.

Knowing whose example to follow as a Christian is not easy. Even within the Catholic Church there can be many different voices. In thus Weekends’ 2nd Reading, St. Paul encourages us to follow good examples, to listen discerningly, and to remember that our true home is Heaven.

This Sunday invites us to think about gifts – be they from Wise Men or not. The 2nd Reading focuses on the Gift of Faith – whcih we recieve, yes, from people in our lives – but one that, ultimately, comes from God.
